LA49>1

Louisiana is currently ranked as the 49th unhealthiest state. Ouch. We have a rich cultural tradition of food but that hasn’t always meant we were unhealthy. This new trend is recent and is occurring nationwide as child and adult obesity rates skyrocket, giving chronic illnesses like diabetes and heart disease a foothold in younger and younger demographics. We CAN retain our cultural diversity AND also improve our health. Join us on the road to the healthiest state in the country. Journey with us from 49 to 1. Start today.
Where do I begin?

It starts with a simple goal. There are plenty of resources in our community to help you! It’s a matter of finding them and gathering them to you to make a change.
Baby Steps

Looking for a change in your family’s health and fitness? – start small. A 5-10 minute walk with your kids (or dogs), a family outing that gets everyone moving, go out to eat and split entrees, substitute one healthier food item here and there, grocery shop together and read labels with your kids, one day soda free, get the family/friends to sign up for a race or event together…you get the idea!
What do I eat?

Becoming more active is certainly critical, but when paired with smarter choices in eating, the effect can be amazing. RKF will help you by providing resources for smarter eating.
